Note: I don't use the word "white" lightly here. I know good and well there are many non-White public and private leaders and owners (hence the parenthases) - but most are white. And that's perfectly fine for a lot of Americans - not me. "The man" is refers not to gender, but to authority figures as in "stick it to the man". (Although I am sure that males dominate leadership and ownership too).
